Day 4
Today I ran after a complete day off. Honestly, I felt kinda off with my back ache and my legs still sore from last Sunday. In any case I went out for a 1.5 mile hills run. I went very slow. I would say my pace was just above a fast walk. Overall I felt great during the run with only very minor fatigue aches in my knees. Before and awhile after is when I felt off. I have been stretching a lot before and after to help so we will see how I feel tomorrow. I am thinking I will do a recovery walk of the same route tomorrow. So far so good. Oh and I bumped up the 5K goal to July 19th in stead of August.

Hi, I just joined the Sweat365 community
I’m a man from Nazareth PA United States, born in 1978.
My favorite sports include: running walking hiking
My goals are: I am brand new to running and I would love to someday run a full marathon. I want to do this to prove to myself that I can and to also lose some weight and become more healthy. I am planning on running a 5K in about two months(August 2008) or so then a 15K two months later(October 2008). I am hoping to train hard until the following late spring early summer(June2009) and then do a half marathon. Finally, I would love to continue to train and perhaps try my first marathon about a year later(Summer 2010).
My other favorite activities include: Track and Field-Discus.
I am not your typical running type. I am big boned, stocky and about 75 lbs overweight. I actually did run x-country my senior year of high school on a dare and amazingly I completed the season. I hope that this attempt later in life will be as successful.
This is my training blog which I am using to keep track of my fitness progress.
Please come by and read my blog. It will help me stay motivated and keep me on track as I achieve my fitness goals!

Day 2 and a recovery walk
Yesterday was torture, but in a a good way! I ran three miles and pretty much felt “good” pains. I always have had a reoccurring back issue(minor) that comes and goes with various types of activities. Well, I really felt good yesterday and my back was content as well. I ran around a community park and it was wide open, hot and sunny. I carried my water bottle the whole way not knowing how and when I would need to hydrate. The first mile I only drank occasionally. The second and third I drank about every five minutes. Needless to say, I was two strides away from passing out but I DIDN’T and that is so awesome. Now remember I am carrying 75 pounds of extra weight so the fact that I ran anything more than a mad dash to the hot dog cart was amazing for me! So, today I did a moderate level walk with some nice long hills to get all that lactic acid out of my muscles. I was hesitant to go for fear of strain or injury but I just went at a good pace and everything went great. I even pushed my two year old in her stroller. So far so good. Day off tomorrow for full recovery. Perhaps a leisure walk with the fam.

My first run in 13 Years
Today I ran with two friends and it was so exciting. It was exciting in a way that made think back o my high school days when I ran a bit. I have long since left that body behind and have put on husband and daddy weight. Being about 75 pounds heavier than back then I never really gave running a thought. Even back then I never would have been considered a runner. I am not the typical running type. Anyway, I have had this burning desire to get back in shape and I thought running would be great. I have tried everything else on the planet to get healthy and fit. So, for now it is running. In the last few days I have gone from doing nothing to running for the first time today to planning, in my head, my road to a full marathon. Ok, I am nuts but I think people that run marathon are little nuts in their own way and of course in a good way. What an honor it would be to be able to walk through life knowing that you survived a marathon. I am shooting for Summer 2010. Only time will tell.
